Freedom
of Information Foundation of Texas Elects 2003 Officers
The Freedom of Information Foundation of
Texas, a First Amendment organization that works to protect
and advance public access to government, elected its 2003
officers and added four new board members in December.
Joel White, a Houston attorney with Ogden,
Gibson, White, Broocks & Longoria, L.L.P., replaced Kathy
Vetter, managing editor/enterprise & investigations of
the Fort Worth Star-Telegram ,
as treasurer. Vetter will remain on the board of directors.
All other officers were re-elected, including,
Wanda Garner Cash, publisher of The Baytown Sun ,
president; Don Flores, vice president and editor of the El
Paso Times , vice president and
Keith Shelton, journalist in residence for the University
of North Texas (ret.), secretary.
Marķa
Eugenia Guerra, owner, publisher and CEO of LareDOS ,
a journal of the Borderlands; Brett Thacker, assistant managing
editor of the San Antonio Express-News ;
Fred Zipp, managing editor of the Austin American-Statesman
and Linda Quick, marketing consultant
and former advertising and marketing director for Foley's,
all join the board of directors.
Retta Kelley of the Austin American-Statesman
and communications consultant
M.J. Nicchio left the board of directors and are now serving
on the advisory council.
