Legal Hotline:
Call
the FOI Hotline
1-800-580-6651
The
FOIFT offers an FOI Hotline which is free of charge and
available to anyone who has a question concerning the Texas
Public Information and Open Meetings Acts.
The
Hotline is designed to answer general questions about the
Texas Public Information Act, the Texas Open Meetings Act,
The Federal Freedom of Information Act and other FOI-related
issues. The Hotline is not designed to answer questions
dealing with other areas of law. Hotline attorneys offer
a generic opinion on specific cases based on the facts given,
but that opinion is in no way to be construed as legal advice.
Help
in an emergency situation, after hours and on weekends,
is available by calling 214.977.6658 and leaving a brief
message and your phone number. Messages are checked periodically
and your call will be returned as quickly as possible.
Hotline
attorneys work in teams and are located all over the state.
They serve one week at a time on a rotating basis.
